Earlier in October, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made the significant decision to suspend the Russian Olympic Committee with immediate effect. As part of this suspension, the Russian Olympic Committee will no longer operate as a National Olympic Committee as defined by the Olympic Charter and won't be receiving any funding from the Olympic Movement.
The IOC continues to prioritize the principles that bind our global sporting community. Decisions like these underline the importance of fairness, respect, and integrity within the sports realm.
It's essential to note that the IOC will, in due time, make decisions regarding the participation of individual neutral athletes with Russian passports for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024 and the Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina 2026.
Let's hope for a harmonious resolution that keeps the best interests of athletes at its heart. 🌍🎖️ Sport has the power to unify and heal, and it's upon us to champion its purest values.
